The large supermarkets Migros, Bim, 101 and Carrefour are a 15 minute stroll or 5 minute taxi ride away in the center of town and will cater for everything you could wish for. If you dont feel like venturing out, there are a number of Kalkan merchants that will deliver everything you need at a phone call away. Just ask Ahmet for the contacts.

The weekly market, Kalkan Semt Pazarı, takes place every Thursday near the big Mosque across from Migros and The Junction restaurant. Filled with spices, fruits, vegetables as well as a selection of “designer” watches, handbags, clothes and electrical items. Stay refreshed with freshly squeezed lemon or orange juice at local stalls as you plan your haggling strategy. Dont miss out the fresh farm cheeses, eggs as well as the freshly made Gözleme.

All of the cafes, bars and restaurants of Kalkan are a gentle 20-25 minute stroll away where you can enjoy the delights of Kalkan’s renowed restaurants.
Transport
A car hire is not necessary as taxis are very reasonable: it only costs 20 Lira (about £2.00) from the rank to the villa! However, if you do choose to rent a car, you can park inside the house grounds at the entrance, or along the side of the road. The roads are very good in this part of Turkey and driving is easy, it’s a good way to get to discover the surrounding beaches and towns if you feel adventurous. Just remember to always carry your passport and driving licence with you.
